Volvo XC90…should we?

A 2010 model is out of our price range, but because we’re trying to have a kid and start a family, we’re thinking about buying a 2006 Volvo XC90. Infact, we like it enough that we have it for an extended test drive for a week. We’ve looked in the lemonade guide and talked to people we know. What we want is a safe, reliable investment car that will last 15+yrs…oh, and the thing is loaded to the nuts with the luxury package. Price aside (just under 30K), would you recommend this vehicle for our reasoning?

I don’t know if this is driven by the man or the woman, the baby won’t know the difference. lol. All kidding aside, congratulations. In my previous life, now more than a decade ago, we purchased a Volvo V70 for much of the same reason. As you well know, Volvo makes a compelling case for safety and baby. Assuming the car is comfortably affordable, the greatest worries are two things. The first, electrical gremlins the second, tires. Tires are expensive and tend to wear fast because of the four wheel drive.
The XC90 is overkill, but you never know. Volvo has long since made million mile vehicles. I think the XC90 can last a lifetime if your family is committed to maintaining the vehicle properly.

Best.

A Safe Investment!
