Stocks Total Return

Why buy 1000 shares of each stock to overcome the Dow Dow Jones over time based on overall performance?
Is assuming stocks that make up remain the same. This question comes from question 95 on the exam # 1 afternoon session of the CFA Schweser practice exams.
I do not think we can guarantee to beat the others. It depends on who has the largest inventory of weight in the Dow Jones. Although the original formula has been to add Dow the price of each stock companies together and then divide by 12 (originally 12 shares), this formula can be used once a Dow stock split since the index would decrease right after the separation. Then change the divider to compensate for the division while the index is the same before and after separation. This sets the fact, every company has the window with the stock split is to have little effect. Since stocks were added to the Dow Jones go the current 30, the denominator is increased, but is divided as it happened, the denominator was reduced to 0.14452124 present. Although not guaranteed an equal number of shares of each stock in the Dow Jones than the Dow Jones stock is more than likely, they tend to increase what is likely to cause the stock split has less effect on the rate Dow Jones in the future. In other words, the trend towards the window to the poor.
