why utility stocks decline when interest rates rise?
They depend heavily on borrowing money to build new power plants, repair damaged equipment, pay normal operating costs until they can convince regulators: Government to enable them to raise rates as interest rates rise, their costs increase and profits will be down. Less profits, stock prices fall.
