is it a good idea to buy general motors stocks now since price is very low?
will it be a useless investment? or could my investment possibly grow? will my stocks be worthless if in the event gm will merge with another company and create new company name?
No. This question has been answered several times already. Mostly in the form of what is going to happen with the people already holding stock in GM now GMGMQ.
When they emerge from Bankruptcy the current shares will be wiped out. They will not become part of the new GM. Leave it alone, and when they do come back, you can decide than if you would like to invest in the company.
