How can I trade stock shares after hours?

Yahoo! Finance reports after hours stock trading activity. How can I participate?

Hi Yardbird,

Most decent brokers will allow you to participate in after hours trading. But, you have to submit it as a separate order. Usually on your order screen there’ll be an option to select to trade after hours (or extended hours). Sometimes, it’s a different tab like “trade extended hours.”

It’ll be just like placing a regular order, but just routing it to extended hours screen so it doesn’t queue up for the next session.

If your broker doesn’t offer this and you’re interested in it, you might need to look for another broker.

Optionsxpress and thinkorswim are two good ones.

Hope that helps!
