can someone give me an idea how much my endowment mortgage will be worth?

I took out an endowment with Standard Life (In the UK) in 1990 for £33,000 over 25 years. I have been told since that there is a strong likelyhood that there will be a shortfall in the return on my investment …. however, SL will not commit or give me an estimate as to how much it will fall short. Is there any other way I can find out the true value of the policy or is there a way to work it out? Thanks for any help you can offer

Your best bet is to go to them and ask what the shortfall would be if you pay off your mortgage today. They aren’t going to be able to predict a future shortfall but they must tell you what it would cost now. This will tell you the likely future shortfall will be and will give you the numbers you need to do a refinance if you go that route.

And next time stay away from endowment mortgages – they are total rubbish!
