The total return on stocks or funds vs share / Price Change navigation?
While viewing a dividend yield on Google Finance and compare stock dividend, the production seems quite useless. All change chart is telling me is the nav / changes in the valuation of shares, which do not reflect performance Total dividends (ie, on the share price changes). Some funds NAV change just because they are explicitly dividend return of funds (like Vanguard Wellington), and then compared with a small dividend return of the funds use of this tool does not make sense. Is there a comparison tool easy out there Whole comparing performance of different stocks and funds?
I think Barron's cover this in its quarterly results that focus on mutual fund provision. Otherwise, each fund prospectuses show total return.
