Can non U.S citizens trade in U.S stocks markets using online brokers like Scottrade or e-trade?

I am from India living in the Caribbean, since US is closer to me, I would like to play stock trading using online brokers like Scottrade or Zecco. I am not sure if Non U.S citizen are allowed. I mean I don’t want companies to fool me and when I invest money, they tell me later on that you cannot withdraw your money out as non US citizens are not allowed to trade. So I just want to be sure.

Yes you can. You will be classified as a non resident alien since you are not a US citizen. You should be able to open an account online, deposit money to your account and you can trade. Use someone like Charles Schwab & Co., since they are large enough to allow you to do this. But first check the website to get all the details on the procedures.
