iPhone 3G screen – buttons open wrong app?
Okay, so it seems my iPhone is broken! 
Slide to unlock works fine, but from there on, it’s unpredictable!
Tapping phone may bring up stocks, opening favourite numbers can cause a random favourite number to be dialed!
It’s not jailbroken OR water damaged!
Warranty repairs are out of the question, as I no longer reside in the country in which it was bought!
There are NO Apple stores here!
what do you think could be the problem? How would I go about repairing it?

Send it in to a apple store. The apple company can fix it for you even if it is purchased outside of the original country. It is a hefty fee for them to fix it. But in most cases your fine.
Before you turn it over to apple. Do this. Turn off Intermet.now press your home button and the hold button at the same time. Hold these two for about 6-8 seconds. Everything should go blank. Now after a second or two, a white apple should appear upon the screen. If it still doesn’t work, then turn it over to apple.
But honestly, if that doesn’t work, then apple may not be able to fix it.
I do know you can get a warranty transfer from Your previous country.
