Great Investments

VEU and VTI a great investment for 3 years?
I am 25 and want to invest in these two ETFs and GE, MSFT, INTC, PFE and PG stocks. Your opinion on these Investments? Is VEU the same as EFA ETF? What is your view on the economy in the next years to come? Etc?
Out of everything you listed above, GE and PG are your best bets. PG especially. I would look out in this economy. The stock market is moving up and the economy is starting to show signs of slowing. I admit I know nothing of the ETF’s so I am no help to you there.
In terms of the economy, there is still no job creation. The health care bill that was just passed taxes investment so I am not so sure you will see a big run up in stocks. The stimulus effects are starting to run out. Anyway, this is not a long term economy. Pick stocks carefully and don’t be afraid to take profits when they are there. Also, have a strategy in place to protect yourself from sharp drops. It’s not just the U.S. The global economy is on shaky ground with a few countries in the EU looking at default. There is even rumor that many countries may go into a protectionist mode so that they can get their house in order.
Three years down the road, who knows. Even the experts can’t tell you what will happen this fall.
PG does well in shaky economies. GE is big in China and that’s the only economy that is growing strong right now. Tech stocks will start to decline after tax season when the effects of tax breaks wear off. With the new health care bill stocks like PFE may take a hit, I am not sure. If you’re not sure stay away from those stocks.
